Landscape Paintings View this Collection I enjoy the outdoors.  My husband,two dogs and I live in the small community of Shady Cove in Southern Oregon.  We have the Rogue River among other great rivers nearby.   Another favorite area is the Sky Lakes Region which is high in the Cascades just south of Crater Lake.  We raft on and hike through these areas year round. These outdoor adventures are the soul of my paintings.  Either working plein air or from a photo, I start with thumbnail sketches to determine design and format.

Abstract Paintings View this Collection From landscapes to abstracts, structure and design are the common treads I use to start each painting. The landscapes are planned by doing a short series of thumbnail sketches.  The abstracts start with a doodle sketch on a white sheet of water media support.  Most often I will write a poem or just words on the sheet and throw a quick wash of yellow over them.  Then, through a series of layers, I build up textures and work toward the final design.  Some work, some don't but there's nothing like throwing paint around!
